LAKE HOUSE

This project was about creating balance: a space that feels modern yet timeless, functional yet deeply personal.

Set on 34 acres overlooking Lake Yarrunga, the Lake House was designed as a quiet and considered response to an extraordinary landscape.

The home sits low within the site, with its long horizontal form carefully positioned to capture natural light and views across the lake, escarpment and surrounding countryside. From the main living spaces to the bedrooms and connecting corridors, openings have been deliberately placed to frame the changing landscape as ever-evolving artwork.

A restrained palette of Blackbutt timber, natural stone and off-form concrete gives the home warmth, weight and a sense of permanence. These materials continue between the interior and exterior, allowing the architecture to feel grounded within its rural setting.

Expansive glazing, deep overhangs and generous covered terraces soften the boundary between inside and outside. The interior spaces flow towards the gardens, pool and lake beyond, keeping the landscape present throughout everyday life.

The result is a home that feels both expansive and peaceful, connected to the land without competing with it. It is architecture designed not simply to look out at the landscape, but to live within it.
