Every project begins by understanding both the people and the place. We talk through your brief, budget, priorities and how you want to live, while carefully considering the site, its orientation, topography, outlook, privacy, constraints and opportunities.

Ideas grow from this understanding and are tested through sketches, plans and three dimensional studies. The design considers movement, proportion, natural light, materiality and how the home responds to its setting. Where the site offers beautiful views, openings and spaces are carefully positioned to frame them. I often describe these views as free artwork, becoming part of the home and changing throughout the day and seasons.

The preferred design is refined and coordinated with planning requirements, consultants and the technical considerations affecting the project. Materials, details and spatial relationships are developed so the original design intent remains clear as the project progresses.

Clear architectural documentation brings the design together and supports the project through approvals, pricing and construction. Depending on the agreed scope, I can also assist with tendering, builder selection and construction stage coordination.
